BlueDolphin offers a variety of ways to search for an object or display a selection. This depends on information or values you already know about the object.
Search for an object
You can search for an object by its title or any of its object property values. The search box returns the first 255 characters value from the object property field.
The current and future states are easily visible, with the future state indicated by a star icon. Refer to Object Lifecycle State article.
There are two ways to search for an object:
- Quick Find
- Search with Title
1. Quick Find
To search for a specific object in your environment, go to the Objects tab and type in the title or any object property value in the search box.
You can search for your active objects and archived objects in the repository. BlueDolphin returns results based on your search query for the tab you are currently on (Active, Current, Future, or Archive).
Click one of the suggestions from the list to open that object.
To learn more about setting the object properties, refer to the Object Properties section from the Object Definitions article.
2. Search With Title
To search for an object, go to the Objects tab and type in the title.
When you press Enter, BlueDolphin returns a list of all the object(s) that contain the typed word in their title.
To run a new search after pressing Enter, cancel the active search by clicking the cross sign x next to the search query. Otherwise, the new search will show no results in the search dropdown.
Filter Objects
If you want to view a subset of data, click the funnel icon below the search/text box and the system lets you choose between:
1. Value - In case you want to see the objects that are based on a specific value.
2. Related object - In case you want to see the objects that are related to a specific object.
Filter by value
BlueDolphin will offer a screen where you can select an object feature with a value. See the image below:
The screen presents the following options to add a filter:
+ |
You add the selected filter, but the screen remains open so that you can add another filter. |
OK |
You add the selected filter, the screen closes, and the results are shown. |
When you add the filter, only objects that meet the filter selection are shown. Multiple filters can be added. If you use the search function next, only objects that meet the selected filters are shown.
Filter by related object
If you choose to filter objects based on the related object, the system asks you to select a specific object, after which it will show all objects related to it.
Select the object type
You can see all objects of a specific object definition or layer by clicking on it on the left side of the screen.
In the example below, there are 7 objects displayed for the Business Actor definition:
