The source processing module processes the sources and ensures that the right objects are made for it. When objects already exist, these will be enriched with the information from the source if necessary. The source processing module is visible in the bar for the users who have the Source processing or Admin role.
Source processing will always be used to create/enhance objects from sources. When you want more control over the creation of objects from sources, turn on the manual source processing. You can do this in the respective object definition in the Admin module.
It is visible in the menu bar when items are ready for source processing. See the figure below.
There are several options available within the resource processing module. To access these, click on the active option. From the menu, choose one of the options (see below).
New source-items
When you have enabled the option Manual source processing in an object definition, new potential objects will be shown. On the left-hand side, you can see an overview of all object definitions that have linked sources. When you select an object definition, source processing items that are waiting on manual processing will be shown.
You will see the following information on the screen:
Title |
The title of the source processing item. This will also be the title of the object. |
Standard action |
The default action as determined by the source processing module. |
Accept the default action. The specified default action will be executed. |
|
Dismiss the item. The source processing item will be dismissed and will disappear. The item can still be found in Dismissed source-items. |
When you disagree with the proposed default action, you can open the item and modify it.
This screen shows all the information of the source processing item. You can see the name and all the object properties. You also see the source from which the object property originates.
Action |
Description |
Create and connect a new object |
A new object will be created and the current source processing item will be connected with this object. |
Connect with one of the suggestions |
When the source processing module finds suggestions, these will be shown in the list. Objects which correspond partially or entirely will be displayed in the list. You can select an object here. The source processing item will be linked to the selected object. |
Search for an existing object and connect it |
If there is an object in your BlueDolphin environment which is not listed in the suggestions, you can search for the object from the autocomplete functionality. |
Existing source-items
When source processing items are processed manually or automatically, you can find them again by selecting the Existing source-items option.
After you have selected this option, you can select the desired object definition to see all the processed items for it.
You can perform the following action:
Action |
Description |
Undo. Returns the item back in the new source-items list. The item can be processed again. |
When you select an existing source-item, the screen below will be displayed.
Besides the title and object properties of the source processing item, you can see to which BlueDolphin object the source processing item is connected.
You can also see when the source element has been signalized for the last time by the source processing module. You can make the information of the various sources visible with the dropdown box.
Dismissed source-items
You can find dismissed source-items by selecting the Dismissed source-items option from the dropdown menu.
After you have selected this option, select the desired object definition to see all the dismissed source-items for it.
You can perform the following actions:
Action |
Description |
Undo. Returns the item back in the new source-items list. The item can be processed again. |
|
Delete. This will completely remove the item and it will no longer be visible. When the source elements are being processed, a new source processing item will be created. You can use this option, for example, for a single imported source. |
In progress source items
If you see an item in this status, it means the system is currently handling multiple items simultaneously. Each item is directed to either a new source or merged with an existing source. Normally, it should disappear after you refresh the page. But if an item remains stuck in this status, please get in touch with our support team for assistance.
Automatic vs manual source processing
Automatic source processing | Manual source processing | |
For new objects | When you upload a source using automatic processing, a new object will be created with the data as configured in the object source settings. | With manual processing, you can review the data in the Sources tab to ensure its accuracy. You can then choose to accept or decline the prepared object. If you accept it, a new object will be created; otherwise, it won't be created. |
For existing objects | If the source file is updated, the system will find the previously created object, and it will automatically update the Properties, Title, and Questionnaire fields. |
In the case of existing objects:
|
Tip: Opt for using Questionnaire fields over Object Properties whenever possible.
