To help users navigate the information in your BlueDolphin environment, you can set up a navigation structure. A navigation structure is a set of linked views that guide the users navigating the content in BlueDolphin. A navigation structure ensures that your users can easily find the view they need to consult or edit, and ensures an overall coherence between all the views in your BlueDolphin environment.
For example, you can create a navigation structure on a homepage for everyone who logs into BlueDolphin.
In the picture below you can see an example of a homepage:
This homepage is a view with different view objects that provides access to certain information on different linked views. When you set this homepage as the default start page for one or more roles, users with those roles will always see the homepage when they log in to BlueDolphin, or when they press the 'home' button.
When you are in the view mode , you can double-click on a view object to open the linked view.
In this example, if you are a ValueBlue employee and want to know more about the goals and the roadmap of our organization, you can double-click on the view: ''The Road To Success 2020''. By doing this, you directly open the linked view:
This example view has a clear navigation structure of different view objects that link to views with our company goals, mission and vision, and roadmap. By using a funnel, arrows, and some extra information it is clear which route you have to take to view the roadmap. In this case, you start at the view Mission/Vision ValueBlue. By double-clicking on this view object, you open the linked view where you can find more information about this subject.
If you want to go to the next subject, the PESTLE & SWOT Analysis, click on the back button to open the previous view. You can find the back button on the left of the view toolbar.
Back button is indicated in the image below with a black circle:
You will return to the view 'The Road To Success 2020' and from there you can click to the next view. It is also possible to add the view object from the next view to this view, so you can click through without going back first.
If you want to restart navigation from the initial homepage, you can click the Home button in the far left corner of the view toolbar.
An advantage of a good navigation structure is that your users have a clear overview which helps them understand the coherence of all the information in BlueDolphin. It's clear which information they can find, where to find it, and which route to follow to get there.
In the above example it's clear that the mission, vision, and SWOT analysis provide input for the roadmap.
If there is no navigation structure, your users have to search through all the available views in your environment, which can be confusing and time consuming.
In contrast, a good navigation structure makes it easy to interact with different people in BlueDolphin and helps you to realize goals even faster.
