Hovering over the Add new object icon in the view toolbar will show you the option to add both new and existing objects to your BlueDolphin view.
If you are working in the Objects tab, you will only see the option to create a new object by clicking the Create new object icon :
Create and add new objects
By choosing the first option while working on the canvas, you can create objects and add them to your view.
You can enter the object name below "Which object(s) do you want to create?". This can be either a single object or you can add a batch by separating various objects with a semicolon. Next, under "Which object definition do you want to use?" you can select the object definition.
Once both fields are filled in, the objects can be added as a batch and it looks like this:
As you can see in the image above, it indicates which objects already exist and which are new. New objects can be recognized by the green checkmark. If an object already exists, it can be discarded from the batch. By hovering over the object with your mouse, a cross will become visible behind the object, which you can click to discard the object.
As soon as all desired objects are listed under Batch, they can be created and added to your view using the button with the same name in the lower-right corner.
Tip: You can use the Enter key to click through to the next field. This makes creating and adding objects even faster.
Add existing objects
The other option available via the Add new object icon is to add existing objects to your view. Also, you can add existing objects by double-clicking the canvas of your view. For both methods, the following steps are the same.
You can search for objects via the search bar by entering the term and pressing Enter or clicking the Search button. All results will then be shown per object definition. It is possible to add all results below a certain object definition at once by selecting the box next to it or by unfolding the layers and selecting one or more objects. By then clicking Add, the selected objects are added to the view. This might take some time if you have many objects that you would like to add.
On Architecture and Data views, when you add multiple objects to the canvas, the objects remain selected so that you can easily move the whole set to your desired location.
On Architecture and Data views, when adding multiple objects to the canvas you can enable or disable displaying relationships that already exist between objects. This functionality applies to both a new set of objects as well as a combination of a set of new objects and any existing objects on the view.
The functionality is enabled by default. To disable, uncheck the box next to Display relationships of the selected objects on the view.
If you are looking for an object that does not yet exist, you will be given the option to create it.
By clicking Create this object, the object will be added to the repository.

Hi, this new feature still assumes that I know what objects are new or existing.
What if I don't know that? In the repository over time there are thousands of objects.
I don't even want think about it. I want to be serviced when entering a number of object titles, where BD tells me which ones are new and which ones are existing AND also adds the existing to the view.
Hi Arnoud, when you use the "add new" functionality on a view, you can add a number of objects in batches. Then, BD shows you which objects are already in the DB and which ones are new in the overview. Is this what you are looking for?
Hi Maren, this was already an existing functionality incorporated in this new feature.
What it didn't do, was also adding the existing objects to the view. It only added the new ones.
What I'm looking for is that the ones that are already in the DB are also added to the view.
Hi Arnoud, for me it does add the existing objects to the view. Maybe we can have a look at that together with our support team? Because it might be that I dont understand what you mean, and we would like to improve this control later on with the new wishes that we get!
