Object lifecycle state

This is a great addition, could we have some additional feature around it:
- It would be good to be able to switch objects visibility on-off based on this field.
- It would also be good if to be able to add additional states as typically you may have current - Future target and some intermediate states to get there.
- In relation to the above, could we an option to then make future now current as a batch process rather than having to go through all the objects and changing them.
