New questionnaire field type with unique ID

The unique identifier for objects is currently a GUID which is 24 positions long. Not exactly human readable. Is it possible to add a new field type for questions that allows admin to configure a unique identifier for specific object types? Would prefer if the ID can be configured with a unique prefix (e.g. ‘APP’ for application component) followed by a sequenced numeric identifier.
