Validity check on a BPMN-model
AnsweredWhat is your wish?
Ability to have an automated BPMN validity and quality check.
What is the problem you encounter?
Sometimes people are not fully BPMN-experts. We want to support them with modelling with warnings, errors if they make mistakes:
- BPMN compliance (for instance: no message flow in a pool)
- Process validity (for instance: unreachable activities, sequence breaks, missing inputs, unused inputs)
Why do you want this wish?
To support modellers.
Do you have a workaround? And if so, what is it?
Training, Thinking, Reviewing :-)
How would you ideally solve the problem?
A button "Check my process" and a pane with results, that you can click. When you click it highlights the error in the model.
How big is the problem on a scale from 1 to 5?

I'd rather have a ton of other wishes completed first, but this would be very nice indeed!
We might have to name all the instances that could go wrong (or can we copy them from somewhere else?).

We have the implementation of bpmn.js on our roadmap for Q4 which will solve this issue.

I was thinking this wish really doesn't make any sense before some basic BPMN elements are added. We are using illegal elements now because BD doesn't support a timer start event for instance. I also use a lot of intermediary timer events to cancel a specific task, but this is not supported by BD I think.. This way, the process will never get validated, so please add full BPMN support before devoting too much time to this wish.

Koen van der Veldt Did your answer imply that we will be able to use all of the BPMN 2.0 elements AND be able to do a validity run on a process?
