    Hello ONeill, Karl,

We are considering the capability to connect business process object to an event and navigation flow to the published version of that connect process.

Would this be in line with your idea?

    Hi Ameya,

Not entirely sure as the intermediate catching and throwing link event are part of the same process. All it really implies is that the drawing split up into two pages. So for this particular event type it wouldnt be my first choice. See my example below; for sake of argument imagine that this process is too large to fit on one diagram and I solve this with a linking event. Its still one process and for me would therefor be one archimate business process object and not two.

    Hello ONeill, Karl,

Have you explored the possibility of using a subprocess in this case? Using a subprocess, you can model the intermediate flow and it can help to keep the diagram visually lean and readable. The subprocess (in collapsed state) takes the same amount of real-estate as a task. You can then go inside the subprocess to inspect it further.

Also good to know is that the subprocess in itself is not connected to the ArchiMate business process object. It is part of the main process.

    Let us know your thoughts!

A subproces can not be reused in other processes. In my opinion this possiblility is really valuable, because we would like the end event to be a start event of the ‘next’ proces. And we have activities who ‘trigger’ new processes, this can be through a catch and throw event as explained above. But we have also Call activities, we see them as reusable processes. For me the possibility to link with a ‘view’ is great, only I don't want to link with a view but with a Published BPMN model. So I think this request is possible related.

    Hi Ameya,

Of course a sub-process or call activity can be used to hide / simplify a BPMN diagram. But that's not quite the point im trying to make; I'm not looking for a workaround but proper use / implementaion of the BPMN notation. The link event's purpose is to link BPMN diagrams.

Let me phrase it in another way; right now blue dolphin lets you draw a link event without any real ability to use it. So i would suggest to support it. You can already add a hyperlink to an event. Maybe convert this to a clickable event in a publised BPMN for example. Otherwise these two event types are kind of confusing and would be best removed in my opinion.

You are quite right! My message is a work around.

We also would like Archimate and BPMN 2.0 implemented in Blue Dolphin like other tools can support the language too!
