BPMN Views: Show the contents of the description field when hovering over a task
After clicking on a task a description can be added to this task. This description is not visible in the process publication portal. It would be handy if the contents of this description field are displayed when hovering over a task so the end user can see more detailed information regarding a process step.

I would not want this, sometimes there's a complete novel in the Description field.
Unless... we would create another field with a limited amount of characters, especially designed to be shown when hovering over the Task button...

I agree, but i think the wish can be a bit extended, let me try the following user story:
As a BPMn modeller I would like to give BPMn objects an alias (a field within the questionaire) and the possibility to show that alias on the BPMn objects in the flow.
a) With a custom field, you can decide what you want to add and how you name it (this can also be the description field)
b) To show that information on your flow you can choose from:
b1) hover over objects and show the field content
b2) show the field content on the object with a "label" view
b3) Replace the text in the object with the field content1 -
That would be even better, a dedicated field for this purpose. Thanks Mike!

Thanks for your wish, Willem Janssen. And thanks MG || Gemeente Tilburg & Robert Kuijvenhoven for your input!
I am curious to find out if other BD users want to share their thoughts! Please comment or vote.

The description is visible in the process publication portal. All you need to do is check the "show in official view" checkbox on the related question in the "BPMN Object description" questionnaire.
As this is a normal "questionnaire" you can also add a lot of other questions (e.g. an alias, or a link to a screenshot).
In my example i didn't mark Link to "show in official view". But the others are visible in the official view. And when you select the task, it will highlight the task on the right side
This questionnaire applies to all BPMN objects. For relations you only have the labels at the moment.
The above also applies for the process itself. When you mark question about the process to "show in official view", it will also be visible on the right side.
Is this enough for you? or do you still want the "hoover over" functionality?0 -
Rob, I am familiair with the workaround with the questionnaires and the fields in BPMn. I would still like/prefer the label view, with that you can toggle 1 Label view and all field/labels in your flow will be visible at once. With the screen on the right side, you have to do too many clicks.
