BPMN convention Template
In BlueDolphin, we use a convention model to agree with each other, which objects and relations we use or not use in the Architecture Module (ArchiMate). These agreements will give us a subset of all the objects of ArchiMate. Thus, it will be easier to prevent sprawl and generically use the objects and relations because of this subset. Besides the Architecture Module, you also want to make the same sort of agreements for the Process module (BPMN). The Process module also has a lot of objects, so it is easier to start small. Below you can see a template in the Architecture model with free shapes in which you could record these convention agreements:
The explanation of the template categories:
- Object: Shows you the icon of the object
- Description: Shows you the description and rules that you have made for this object
- Name Convention: Shows you if there is a name convention for the object
- Example: Shows you an example for the object
- Relations: Shows you which BPMN objects can have a relation with this object
- Swim lanes: In the swim lanes at the right bottom, you can write the rules of engagement for the use of the views.
Here an elaborated example:
I wonder how you do this! Please let me know in the comments below.

Nice. Just a question about the free shapes, did you create the pictures yourself or is there some hidden feature so you can use the symbols of the BPMN module in Archimate views?

Milo Broekmans I did not see you message. But I can share the template with you if you want? It is all free shapes indeed.
