Quick search options

Do you recognize these quick questions like “Can you quickly show me what is related to this application or project?” or “Where is my name used in Applications, Processes, et cetera?”. You probably know how to search for that specific object and show the Diagram tab or how to make a report that gives this information, but there is another (quicker) way of answering these questions.

Search objects using a related object or an object property

When you open the “Objects” menu, the search bar is visible in the upper left corner. Just below the search bar, there is this button , which you can use to narrow the search on a property value (ie. a certain name of someone) or a related object (e.g. a certain project).

Narrowing a search results in a list of objects that contain the value(s) you provided in a certain object property, or that are related to the object you selected.

NOTE: only if a field is set as an Object Property, you search this data. Contact your administrator when you have questions or wishes on this subject.

How do you use this filter?

Click on the button below the search bar and choose “Value” or “Related Object”.

If you choose 'Value', a window pops up in which you can choose the object property for (example Application Owner) and its value(s).

When you are ready, click on “OK” and the results are shown in a list (see screenshot below). If you do not see the value you entered (Martin Brown in this case), you can make it visible by clicking in the right upper corner on the button

Narrow your search

It is also possible to further narrow your search by adding a second search value. For example when you search a certain combination of Application Owner and an Information Demand Manager.

NOTE: When you narrow on multiple properties, you only can choose object properties from the same object definition (in this example Application) and the first search value (in this example Martin Brown).

To further narrow the search, you can use the button in the lower righthand corner. So when you have selected for example Application Owner and Martin Brown, you click on the button (3).
Your selection will become visible in the upper left corner side of the window and you can repeat step 1 and 2 to add a second object property.

Related Object

To get a list with objects that are related to a certain object you click on the button and select “Related Object”. In the window that pops up you enter the name of that specific object, for example a Project name.

The result is the same as with Value.
