Ability to visualize time targets in BPMN
This request is linked to 'Ability to draw shapes in BPMN views' (https://valueblue.zendesk.com/hc/nl/community/posts/360010410419-Ability-to-Draw-shapes-in-BPMN-views )
- What is your wish?
Ability to visualize a deadline of time constraint in a BPMN model, using vertical lines or vertical blocks (with color) behind the BPMN symbols, that contain process parts (multiple lanes) and contain free editable texts such as 'Between March 1 - April 1' of 'Finish before September 1'
- Why do you want this wish?
We want to inform process participants of important deadlines / time targets to finish parts of a proces.
- Do you have a workaround? And if so, what is it?
Remarks as text (but less visible) in the model, or in activity description. Or document in separate work instruction document.
- How would you ideally solve the problem?
See above, and for 2 examples, see below.
- How big is the wish on a scale from 1 to 5? (1 = it would be nice, but definitely not necessary, and 5 = I cannot work another day without it).

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner!
Thank you this wish:)! I will discuss this wish in the next feedback session in September:) !

We added this item to our short-term wish list, but I cannot give any specific information on when our team will start working on it. Please keep an eye on the release channel for more information :)!

This may work if the artifact "Group" from the BPMN language was to be implemented. When we're able to group certain objects on a BPMN view, you could group the objects into a group and add the time-details as metadata to the group.
(I belive this is the 'official' way of solving your problem Roeland)

Thanks! I have checked the BPMN spec, but it's not very clear on this aspect, but I do agree that this option would be a good way to go: compliant with the BPMN standard and sufficient for our needs.
Important: the metadata of the group should be made visible in the diagram and should be freely definable. In the BPMN spec it seems they suggest to use categories (which would mean a set of category values, and a group would link tot a certain category and certain category value). For our purposes that would be overkill - free format textstring linked to the specific Group artifact in the model is sufficient.

Sorry, didn't see your comment before, but why not abuse a Timer Intermediate Catch event? I've misused that in the past for clarifying time events.

I've used that as well, but it doesn't clarify the timing of multiple tasks (activities) together, unless you put ‘em all in a subprocess (which makes it ugly). Besides, the executability of the BPMN will be zero if you misuse elements, don’t know if that is a problem for Roeland.
